Major Cineplex, one of the largest movie theatre operators in Thailand, has invested in Christie RealLaser cinema projectors for deployment in its multiplexes in Bangkok.
The sale, which includes the CP4325-RGB and the newly-launched, 2K-resolution CP2315-RGB and CP2320-RGB models, marks the Thai exhibitor’s continued commitment to Christie RGB laser projection following the 2017 installation of a Christie CP42LH 4K RGB laser projector in the famous Siam Pavalai theatre. The initial wave of units will be installed in Major Cineplex’s flagship locations at ICON Cineconic, Paragon Cineplex and Quartier CineArt.
Vicha Poolvaraluk, CEO of Major Cineplex Group, said: “We are very pleased to equip our cinemas located in Bangkok’s most popular shopping malls with Christie’s latest RGB pure laser projection systems. This is aligned with our goal of offering the most advanced technologies and creating the best movie-going experience for our patrons. Christie RealLaser brings the cinema experience to the next level and I’m sure our customers will appreciate what’s in store for them.”
Lin Yu, vice prresident, cinema sales for Asia, Christie, added: “Major Cineplex’s acquisition of RealLaser cinema projectors is a validation of Christie’s technological leadership in the cinema market, and demonstrates the confidence that exhibitors have in our direct-coupled RGB pure laser projector, which brings low cost of ownership and unmatched cinematic performance to mainstream auditoriums. This acquisition will place Major Cineplex at the forefront of the cinema experience in Thailand.”
