A start up by Imperial College London has developed a virtual reality system that lets users interact using only the power of thought.
The breakthrough VR system uses EEG headsets which measure electrical activity from the brain, working with advanced machine learning algorithms that use the EEG data to read intended body movements in real time, translating to on-screen activities.
The technology, which is currently under commercial development for applications in healthcare and entertainment, not only works with EEG headsets but also consumer-grade headsets that are lower in cost.
Cogitat expects to have a working prototype of its technology within the next 12 months.
